Fidelity customers logging on to the Internet can save visits to multiple sites and pages by customizing their MyFidnet page to show them content from across the Web. Want to read sports news and view personal photos?
Don't visit ESPN.com and then head over to photo site Flickr.com. Both sites can feed into MyFidnet. "Customization of the portal is the biggest feature of the site," said Brady Vassallie, creative marketing manager at Fidelity. "Once you're logged in, you can actually suck in any RSS feed to your start page. Two or three years ago, I'd have to visit eight or nine sites to get caught up on news of the day. Now those can all appear on your start page."
The site brings in news headlines, but it also has agreements with local chambers of commerce and other nearby institutions that allow those partners to promote their events on the Fidelity Web site. In addition, anyone who registers to use the site can submit articles and photos, subject to approval by site monitors.
